WhatsApp Message

Received a message on Wattsapp yesterday from my friend Matthew. He sent an invitation for dinner on our Group called “Living on the edge”….I know it s a strange name but that’s exactly how we felt as friends…living physically in the society but emotionally we just knew that “on the edge” is where we belong…or seen…
Anyhow, the message said:
“Boys, Met at this guy at work this morning!
What a character…Had great conversation and guess what seems he does not hate us. I truly missed that feeling!
Invited him and his friends over for drinks and dinner tonight at my place at 9!
Don’t be late!”
Surely an unexpected invitation…Been a while since “outsiders” entered our circle. We got used to be “Rejected” and “shameful to be around with”. That’s normal, who would risk his reputation being seen among such a group of ours specially if they are known to be “religious” and “morally alert”!
Went over to Matthew and the whole gang showed up…All were curious to meet this man and his friends. What a heart warming encounter…for the first time in ages, someone decides to reach out to us personally for who we are and not for dictating who we should be! WE had good times, laughs, talks, discussions, tears, and giggles! We all left feeling human again..or even a little bit more than that…
Oh my God, Andrew even posted this dinner selfie on Facebook…what a careless step…! They will surely lose loads of friends and followers…how can they explain to everyone their dinner with such a gathering of “bad people”!
Expected…So many “dislikes and angry emojis”…Loads of hatred messages of shock flooding!
Even our local church group admin commented the following:
“JC...why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinner?!!!”
To my amazement, JC did not comment on any message except this one and he replied:
“It is the sick people who need a doctor, not those who are healthy. I did not come to invite good people. I came to invite sinners.””
Thanks JC for bringing me back my dignity...and thanks Matthew for a “Life Changing” Dinner!
Keep shining my friends
