I Don't Want that Christmas Tree which depends on expensive ornaments to impress its beholders...but one that is already created in such a wonderful way! (Psalm 139:14)

I Don't Want that Christmas Tree which stops shining its lights when left alone at home...but one that keeps shining to the world! (Matthew 5:14)

I Don't Want that Christmas Tree...with a star at its top pointing only at itself...but one that gives glory to The One who's worth it! (Matthew 5:16)

I Don't Want that Christmas Tree...artificial, looking alive while essentially dead deep...but one that, not just truly alive, but lives life to its Fullest! (John 10:10)

I Don't Want that Christmas Tree...natural, yet water-less cut away from its source of life...but one evergreen that grows strong, like a tree planted by a stream— produces fruit when it should and has leaves that never fall! (Psalms 1:3)

I Don't Want that Christmas Tree...that bends under the weight of heavy burden decoration...but one that would live forever freely without burdens! (Matthew 11:28)

I Don't Want that Christmas Tree with gifts at its feet Only for the ones who have been good...but One that brings love to All with No exception! (Matthew 5:44)

For you and I are trees for the sight...both trees have been set before us, therefore Lets's choose Life. (Deuteronomy 30:19)

لا اريد تلك الشجرة!

لا اريد شجرة الميلاد .. التي تبدو جميلة تبعث علي الفرح .. فقط في موسمها ..
بل تلك المليئة بالفرح " كل حين " فيلبي ٤:٤

لا اريد شجرة الميلاد .. التي تعتمد علي زينتها الغالية لتبهر بها من حولها ..
بل تلك التي في تكوينها رائعه و مبهرة بيد خالقها ..تلك التي " امتازت عجباً" مزمور ١٣٩ :١٤

لا اريد شجرة الميلاد .. التي تطفئ انوارها عندما تكون وحيدة .. بل تلك التي تشع نوراً دائما و للجميع متي ٥ : ١٤

لا اريد شجرة الميلاد .. و النجمة تعلوها و تشير اليها .. بل تلك التي نجمتها تعطي المجد لإلهها .. متي ٥ : ١٦

لا اريد شجره الميلاد .. صناعية .. تخدع بالوان الحياة و لكنها هن داخلها ميتة بلا روح .. بل شجرة مليئة روحا و حياة "أفضل" يوحنا ١٠:١٠

لا اريد تلك الشجرة .. طبيعية كما تبدو .. ولكنها جافة و قد قطعت عن منبع الحياة..
بل شجرة دائماً خضراء ، تنمو في قوة ، كشجرة مغروسه علي مجري المياه ، تعطي ثمرها في حينه وورقها لا تنثره الرياح مزمور ١ : ٣

لا اريد شجرة الميلاد .. المنحنيه تحت عبء زينتها.. 
بل تلك التي بلا هموم و لا "أحمال ثقيلة" .. متي ١١: ٢٨

لا اريد شجرة الميلاد .. بالهدايا اسفلها .. فقط للأخيار .. بل تلك التي تمنح حباً للجميع .. ولا تستثني احداً.. متي ٥ :٤٤

ولان امامي و امامك نوعين من الاشجار .. فلنا ان نختار اي نوع نرغب ان نكون و اية حياة نود ان نعيش .. 
" قد جعلت امامك الحياة و الموت 
البركه و اللعنه 
فاختر الحياه لكي تحيا .."

A More Effective Conversation

When it comes to reflection on a wrong-doing, I have two types of conversations with my daughters:

1- “May be he didn’t notice”: ”They think I do not know what wrong they have done, so most of the time is spent trying to avoid mentioning or admitting they made a mistake under the hope that “may be he didn’t notice”. Time and effort is spent by both of us going around the topic until they realise “I know” and then comes the good talk of what can we do to fix it and how to avoid it next time…followed with them coming into my arms for a hug and kiss…and a sorry!

2- “He knows what happened”: No use of beating around the bush and wasting conversation assuming I don’t know. That conversation starts with a hug, kiss and a sorry and goes on direct to a way better discussion..a constructive one building on a close relation of trust, openness, learning and growing…all being in my arms already since the beginning!

What if our times of prayers are all the Type “2” conversation with our Heavenly Father. It is true, speaking to All Knowing God tends to induce honesty, and bring you straight to His arms from the beginning. Going in circle won’t help you get peace out of that conversation! What a comfort we have in that reality, only if we truly realise it and live it!

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:13 NIV
“ولَيسَتْ خَليقَةٌ غَيرَ ظاهِرَةٍ قُدّامَهُ، بل كُلُّ شَيءٍ عُريانٌ ومَكشوفٌ لعَينَيْ ذلكَ الّذي معهُ أمرُنا.”

Make use of your Prayer time…Do not try to hide what´s wrong…He already Knows it all…and waits for your intimate talk in His arms…to learn, grow, and start new again!

الحوار الافضل ..

في كل مره تقع بناتي الصغيرات في غلطه من غلطاتهم الطفوليه ، اجد نفسي امام احد حواريين ...
- حوار " ربما لم يلاحظ " .. يعتقدون اني لم ألاحظ الغلطه .. و بالتالي تقضي كل الوقت في " لف و دوران " ومحاولة تجنب ذكر اي شئ يتعلق بغلطتهم او الاعتراف بوجود اي خطأ من الاساس .. علي امل اني " لن ألاحظ "
يضيع من الوقت و المجهود .. من كل منا .. في تفادي الحوار او تجاهله .. الي ان تدركان انني اعرف و اري و ألاحظ .. وانتظر .. وعندما تدركان ذلك .. يبدأ الحوار الحقيقي الذي سيقودنا الي الاعتراف بالغلطه و طريقه حلها ووسيله تفاديها فيما بعد .. وما يتبع الحوار من حضن ابوي و قبله طفوليه .. واعتذار.
- و هنالك الحوار الافضل ...
يبدأ بأن تدرك الطفلتان انني "اعرف " لذا لا داعي من اضاعه الوقت في افتراض انني لم الاحظ ..
لطيف هذا الحوار .. اذ يبدأ بالحضن الابوي و القبله الطفوليه ، و الاعتذار .. ثم يستمر الحوار هادئاً مريحا نحو طريقه الاصلاح و تفادي الاخطاء المستقبليه ..
حوار بنَّاء .. قائم علي علاقه من الثقه و الانفتاح .. يؤدي بسرعه للنمو و التعلم .. من خلال حضن ابوي متفهم .

ماذا لو ان كل صلواتنا تتم بطريقه " الحوار الافضل "
صلوات حقيقيه واثقة انه يعلم كل شئ .. عالمين انه سيسرع للقاءنا في احضانه الابويه ..
وان اللف و الدوران لن يقود الي اي احساس بالسلام .

وما اعظم احساس الراحه الذي سنشعر به حين ندرك تلك الحقيقه ..

لنجعل وقت الصلاه اذا وقتاً بنَّاء .. فلا نخفي اخطاءنا و نداريها فيضيع الوقت و الجهد .. بينما هو يعلم كل شئ و لا يخفي عليه أمر..
لنجعل وقت الصلاة وقتاً مثمراً لانه ينتظر تلك اللحظات الصادقه .. التي نكشف امامه عيوبنا ليعمل فينا و ينعم لنا ببدايه جديده و نقيه .

Dear Santa, I want…

December comes in with all its Christmasy decoration, music and more specifically…Gifts to look forward receiving! I have always been fascinated by this simple trick of “The Letter to Santa” that parents use with their to know what they are really expecting to receive. Obviously, the young ones get amazed and the plot is well set up once they wake up that Christmas morning to find exactly under the the tree their long waited for Gift! This Santa is Amazing…he got me what I want!

Frankly, I do believe that surprise Gifts (on birthdays for example) where no Santa Card is written are way much FUN…cause you do not know what you will get and many times it just EXCEEDS your expectations. And Guess what, the closer the gift giver knows you the more relevant and surprising is the gift…they tend to know what would be relevant to you…and would bring you joy on that special day..even if you didn’t expect any gifts. That sounds WAY MORE exciting to me..unwrapping a Gift I have not asked for smile emoticon

Thank God He is not Santa, He does not need a Letter to know your wishes…but
most of all:

From House to Home

Here we are, moving our lives for the 3rd time in a row, changing cities and countries. This means that we are just settling in our new “4th” physical place we are going to call “Home Sweet Home”. This experience has showed me how fragile is our definition of “home” thinking that it is only a specific address, a given house or a known neighborhood.

We have gone around visiting empty houses, that at FIRST visit are no more than a stack of walls put together creating a closed space…and when moving out, these same hollow square meters were to us HOME where we grew our familiarity, sense of belonging, warmth, shelter, pleasant comfort, memories, special corners, and security.

It is NOT about the space you live in, it is about the LIFE you create in this space…

Same with our relationship with God, you have the choice what to make out of it. Are you just merely visiting this “empty hall” from time to time ticking off the visit from your to do list, or you are truly creating Life, familiarity, experiences into this intimate One on One connection? Let me tell you a fact, this “From House to Home” concept is not built overnight, but requires a process investing in a long journey day by day creating closeness, relevance and identity. Your relationship with God is no stranger to that neither…it will grow on you by time…but you have to choose so!

As we grow into a deep intimate relationship with God, we find ourselves more and more at ease and on familiar ground in His presence,

Let us “ Make our Home in Him, Abide in Him” (John 15:4)
“اُثبُتوا فيَّ وأنا فيكُم. كما أنَّ الغُصنَ لا يَقدِرُ أنْ يأتيَ بثَمَرٍ مِنْ ذاتِهِ إنْ لَمْ يَثبُتْ في الكَرمَةِ، كذلكَ أنتُمْ أيضًا إنْ لَمْ تثبُتوا فيَّ.”

and make Him our “Dwelling Place” (Psalm 91:1)

…and this Home will be ours wherever we go…from here to Eternity!

وللمرة الثالثه علي التوالي ..

نغيير من بيت لبيت و من مدينه لمدينه ! 

بما يعني اننا نعيد استقرارنا لرابع مرة فيما سندعوه ( بيتنا الحلو المحبوب ) !

مما جعلني اعيد تفكيري في مفهوم كلمه " بيت " " مسكن"

وكيف ان تعريفها هش و غير كاف ! 

اذ ان العنوان و الجدران و الجوار .. لا تفي الكلمه معناها .. بل وتحرمها من الدفء .

حين كنا نختار البيوت لأول مرة ، ونتجول من واحد لآخر .. لم نكن نري سوي حوائط تجمعت لتحيط بمساحه خاليه ،

وحين كنا نغادرها كنا نترك من خلفنا فراغاً .. نسميه " بيتنا الحلو المحبوب ) ، ثلاث مرات نسكن جدراناً خاليه و نحولها لمكان مألوف آمن ، خاص ، اركان مفضله .. راحة حقيقيه ، ذكريات عميقه .. بيت حلو و دافئ ..

انه ليس المكان الذي تعيش فيه اذاً ، ولكنه الحياة التي تعيشها في ذلك المكان .. 

تماماً كعلاقتك بالله .. 

لك مطلق الحريه فيما تختلق من خلالها ..

هل تفرح بزياره محضره من فترة لأخري ، كمكان غريب لا تربطك به اي صلة .. مجرد لحظات قليله من السعادة ..تريح الضمير و تفي الفرائض ، ام انك تخلق عشرة حقيقيه حيه نابضة بالحياة .. ممتلئه بالاختبارات .. علاقه فرديه عميقه !

دعني اخبرك .. ان الانتقال من "مجرد جدران" الي " بيتي الحلو المحبوب " هو امرٌ لا ينشأ بين ليله و صباح .. بل بقدر ما تستثمر فيها يومياً بقدر ما ينشأ التقارب و الاتقاء و الهويه المحددة لهذه العلاقه الحقيقيه . يمكن ان تصبح حياتك مع الله عشرة حقيقيه . انه اختيارك !

وفيما ننمو في علاقتنا الحقيقيه بالله يوم فيوم ينمو الاحساس بالراحه و السكينه .. 

في ستر العلي .. و في محضره .. نجد البيت و السكن ..

“السّاكِنُ في سِترِ العَليِّ، في ظِلِّ القديرِ يَبيتُ."

مزمور 91 :1

وفيما نحقق دعوته بالثبات فيه ، تمتلئ حياتنا بالثمر ..

“اُثبُتوا فيَّ وأنا فيكُم. كما أنَّ الغُصنَ لا يَقدِرُ أنْ يأتيَ بثَمَرٍ مِنْ ذاتِهِ إنْ لَمْ يَثبُتْ في الكَرمَةِ، كذلكَ أنتُمْ أيضًا إنْ لَمْ تثبُتوا فيَ" يوحنا ٤ : ١٥

وهذا المسكن هو بيتنا الحلو اينما ذهبنا .. من الان و الي الابديه ...

The "Black Cloud"...and us!

"A year ago post shared again as a reminder to myself"

Here comes again the big "Black Cloud-السحابة السودة"..Isn't it a pity that such a perfect weather month like October is ruined by such an unexplainable phenomenon! I remember enjoying outdoor activities as Summer heat fades away and winter (the bit we have back home) didn't yet crawl its way into the streets of Cairo. You can not be around a group of people these days without hearing their endless complaints of such horrific pollution and how disastrous it is to their overall health and moods. Just a thought hit me...what about the ones who are producing this pollution, the ones starting the fires and burning the so called "قش الرز". Are they feeling guilty with such wrong doing? Are they realizing the suffering they are creating to millions around them? Do they even still smell or see the same smoke the way we do? I guess they got used to it, or so embedded in their ways that in fact they like it! Their personal benefit in such an act BLINDS their eyes and gives them a fictitious peace of consciousness.

I just reflected on the Black Clouds you and I do create in our lives. Numerous sins and wrong doings found their way to pollute our soul, yet I guess we are blinded exactly as the "black cloud producers". The personal benefits we get from a lie, a cheat, a treason, or a look sedates our consciousness and makes us co-exist in a Smoke filled inner-self. My fear that this black cloud can (and will) hit the ones around you, they will smell it and eventually bear the consequences with you, yes, the consequences are one sin's most terrifying realities.

I love David for the man of God he was, yet he committed adultery and sinned. He knew he could blindly accept it and find excuses, yet he Prayed with tears asking God to fetch his soul and open his eyes, showing him what to clean:

"Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24)
اختَبِرني يا اللهُ واعرِفْ قَلبي. امتَحِنّي واعرِفْ أفكاري. وانظُرْ إنْ كانَ فيَّ طَريقٌ باطِلٌ، واهدِني طَريقًا أبديًّا. (139 المَزاميرُ:23-24 )

Dear Lord, I had enough starting fires, seeing smokes and accepting it. How far do we need to go to realize the pain we are creating to our selves and the disgrace we bring to the ones around us. Till when will we keep our eyes on the cloud of others yet accept the fumes we spread around. Open the eyes of our heart Lord to the blind spots we let go and the accepted failures we nurture within. I want to scream out loud with the born-blind healed by Jesus "“But I do know this: I was blind, and now I can see.” (John 9:25) . In Your Glorious name, Amen.

When you see the black cloud, remember your own.

مرة اخري .. عادت السحابه السوداء .. 

أليس أمراً مؤسفاً ، ان يشوَّه هذا الشهر الجميل و هذا الوقت الرائع من السنه بسحابه سوداء غير منتظره و لا متوقعه !!!

اذكر اني كنت استمتع بهذا الوقت من العام خارج المنزل ممارساً كل الانشطه بعدما بدأت حده الصيف في الانكسار و بروده الشتاء لم تزحف بعد علي شوارع مدينتنا .

ولكن الان .. لم يعد تجمع من الاصدقاء يخلو من حوار حول " السحابه السوداء " .. الشكوي من التلوث و تأثيرها السلبي علي الصحه و علي الامزجه ..اصبحت السحابه السوداء تهبط بثقلها علي نفسيتنا و صحتنا من حيث لا نعلم.

افكر في المتسببين في هذه "السحابه السوداء" .. 

الذين يبدأون الحريق ( قش الارز او غيره ) .

هل يشعرون بالذنب ؟

هل يدركون حقيقه المعاناه التي يعانيها كل من تأثروا بهذه السحابه السوداء التي ساهموا في انتشارها ؟

وعلي اقل تقدير .. هل يستطيع من يتسبب في السحابه من ان يشمها ايضاً و هل ما زال يتضايق هو ايضاً من تأثيرها الفظيع علي حياته ؟!! ام انه تعامي عن رؤيتها و اعتاد وجودها فلم تعد تضايقه ؟! بل .. ربما .. من كثره ما اعتاد وجودها .. اصبح يفضل رائحتها ..

وربما من اجل مصلحته الشخصيه تعامي عن الضرر و استراح في ظل ضمير نائم .

و السؤال الان .. عن تلك السحابه السوداء التي قد ننشرها انا و انت من حولنا ،

نعم .. فخطايانا الشخصيه تلوث ارواحنا و تلوث حياة الاخرين من حولنا ،

واظن ايضاً .. ان ضمائرنا تهدأ امام مصلحتنا الشخصيه .. في الكذب ، الغش ، الخيانه ، او حتي في نظره شريره .

اخشي ان تبدأ سحابه خطايانا في التأثير الضار المؤذي لمن حولنا ، و يبدأون في المعاناه من عواقب تلك السحابه .. سحابه الأخطاء .

داود رجل الله الذي ارتكب خطيه بشعه ، و استطاع ان يجد امام ضميره اعذاراً حتي اتاه صوت الله منبها و منذراً.. 

ولكنه عندما استفاق من شره ، صلي باكياً، نادماً ، مستسلماً للفحص و الامتحان .. مهيئاً للتطهر و التنقيه ،

اختَبِرني يا اللهُ واعرِفْ قَلبي. امتَحِنّي واعرِفْ أفكاري. وانظُرْ إنْ كانَ فيَّ طَريقٌ باطِلٌ، واهدِني طَريقًا أبديًّا. (139 المَزاميرُ:23-24 )

الهي .. 

كم اشعلت من نيران و حرائق ،

وتعاميت عن الدخان الخانق و الرماد الاسود .

الي اي مدي يجب ان اذهب حتي ينتبه ضميري نحو الالم الذي اسببه لنفسي و العار الذي ألوث به من حولي .

وحتي متي ابصر اخطاء غيري و اتعامي عن اخطائي..

افتح يا رب اعيننا لنبصر الاخطاء المستتره في نفوسنا،

و الاثام التي نرعاها في قلوبنا.

فنهتف مع الرجل المولود اعمي

" كنت اعمي و الان .. ابصر "

Lego Cubes

This weekend I had the chance to witness my daughters enjoy their “Lego” Time! they went on building a whole house, walls, rooms and entrance! Wanting to place it in the living room to showcase their new masterpiece, they decided to lift it and move it slowly to its new location. At their first trial, the wall fell apart..and they got frustrated. I looked closer to find out that they built the wall stacking cubes in columns without having any cubes linking both columns (as in the photo smile emoticon

While the walls they built (or columns) looked nice but at the first move and shake they all fell apart…a Standing column not extending nor linked to the one next to it lacks stability. They got the lesson and started building interlocked walls.

I believe that we as individuals are just like these nice colourful stacked up stand-alone columns, at the first shake we might crumble down lacking someone to lean on. Out of our own experience, I believe that the linking cubes that hold us together as a family, circle of friends, church or any community is the power of Prayer. Praying for each other has a bonding effect you must experience..hearing your name and your family being prayed to outloud, asking blessings and guidance to your current life´s obstacles is elevating your relation from pure earthly to a The next level…to the fields where souls meet and hearts lift each others. A new Lego wall is built, firm against all the winds and shakes that would seek displacing it!
“Two are better than one, because they have a good [more satisfying] reward for their labor; For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

And though a man might prevail against him who is alone, two will withstand him. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Friends and Families, Build up Your Lego wall in prayers…and Pray for me too.

في عطله نهايه الاسبوع ، كانت عندي فرصه مراقبه بناتي يمتعون وقتهم ب Lego ( لعبه المكعبات) 

و انشغلوا في بناء المنزل .. جدران و حجرات و مدخل .

وفي رغبتهم لنقل بناءهم الصغير الي الحجره التي اجلس فيها ، ليعرضوا تحفتهم الجديده امامي، بدؤا في رفع بناءهم ببطء و حرص ، و لكن مع الاسف بمجرد ان اهتز البناء هزه خفيفه جداً تهاوت الجدران و تركت خلفها احباطاً في عينيهما.. وحين تفحصت بيت المكعبات جيداً لاحظت ان الجدران عباره عن مجموعه من الاعمده المتجاوره بلا رابط يدعمها معاً .. و بينما بدت الحوائط جميله و متينه من الوهله الاولي ، الا انها ومع اول حركه و اول اهتزاز .. تساقطت بمنتهي السرعه و السهوله. فالاعمده وحدها بلا روابط تجمعها مع غيرها ، تفقدها اتزانها ، و يسهل اسقاطها .

تعلمت البنات الدرس ، و بدأن في بناء حوائط متداخله و متشابكه .

ونحن .. كأفراد .. نشكل تلك الاعمده الجميله التي يقف كل منها الي جوار الاخر ،و لكن و مع اول هزه ، نتهاوي مفتقدين من نستند اليه ، فنسقط.

ولكن و من خلال تجاربنا الشخصيه ، ندرك ان تلك

" المكعبات" التي تجمعنا معاً في بناء متين كأسره او اصدقاء او كنيسه او مجتمع .. هي قوه الصلاه.

في صلاتنا بعضنا لاجل بعض رابطه نحتاج بشده الي اختبار تأثيرها.

ان تشعر ان هناك من يصلي لأجلك و لأجل اسرتك و يذكر اسمك في صلاته من اجل البركات و الارشاد و من اجل التغلب علي صعوبات الحياه .. يدخلك مجالاً جديداً في علاقاتك بمن حولك .. مجالاً أَبعد من الافكار الماديه الارضيه و انما حيث تتلاقي الارواح و القلوب متشجعين ، متساندين.

وكأنما حوائط جديده تبني و ترتفع بثبات امام الهزات و العواصف التي تحاول اسقاطها. 

نعم ..

Learning Curve

I love it when Leila comes with her homework for correction and gets surprised that I DO NOT get surprised by her mistakes and are at her faults. On the contrary, I accept and start correcting them and teach her how to avoid this trap next time! She loves the fact that I recognize her “Learning curve” and her mistakes…I knew she would before she put a pen on her paper…It is all new to her! I specially like it when she starts spotting her own mistakes and corrects them when we are just there together…brings me a confidence smile in her growth and understanding!

In all aspects of our lives, we go through this amazing concept: Learning Curve! It is basically the speed by which we learn and grow into dominating and mastering a subject; we always start slow, doubtful, we fall, we stand, and Grow…then we Run and fly without wings!

God is there waiting for our “homework correction” moment, He is equally NOT surprised by our mistakes. He saw it all coming, but longs for this intimate moment of checking, guiding and witnessing our Spiritual “Learning curve”. in First letter of John, he declared to us the beauty we have in our Loving Father seeking our return and checks with Him:

“We should live in the light, where God is. If we live in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood sacrifice of Jesus, God’s Son, washes away every sin and makes us clean. If we say that we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.” 1 John 1:7-9

احب .. في كل مره تأتي " ليله" بواجباتها المدرسيه لكي اراجعها معها ، ان اري علي وجهها نظره التعجب لاني لم افاجأ بأخطاءها ، بل بكل هدوء اقبلها و اصححها معها و اعلمها كيف تتفادي مثل هذه الاخطاء فيما بعد ..

تفرح لأني " اتفهم " انها مازالت تتعلم . و انني اتفهم her learning curve.

كلما تعلمت كلما تفادت مرات الانحدار .. ومع الوقت اصبحت وفيما هي تضع واجباتها امامي تكتشف اخطاءها سريعاً و بنفسها و تشير اليها و تصلحها حتي دون ان انطق بكلمه .. اعرف عندها انها تنمو و تتعلم .. و ابتسم نحوها بثقه .

وفي كل مجالات الحياه، نمر بهذا المفهوم " منحني التعلم "

عليه نراقب سرعه قدرتنا علي التعلم و النمو نحو التمكن و التميز .

و هكذا كلنا نبدأ ببطء و شك وتردد .. و نسقط و نعاود الوقوف .. فننمو .. ثم نجري بل ونحلق بلا اجنحه .

والله ايضاً .. بالمثل .. لا تفاجئه زلاتنا ، بل كثيراً ما يتوقعها و ينتظر بكل اشتياق تلك اللحظه التي نلجأ فيها اليه فيفحصها و يصححها و يعدل فيها .. ثم بفرح يتابع اولاده في نمو روحي نحوه.

بل ويعلن لنا في محبته ، و اشتياقه ان نكشف انفسنا في نور صلاحه ..

فلنأتي سريعاً امام معلمنا الصالح عالمين انه لا توجد خطيه كبيرة بما يكفي .. لا توجد خطيه اكبر من غفرانه و تطهيره ..

The 2nd Liners

In all aspects of life we meet “The 2nd Liners”, they are the group pf people less “known” or less “popular”, the ones that are not up to the level of the Stardom famous names we know by heart. In football teams, you will probably know 2 or three names, the Super Stars doing great and the rest of the team, the Second Liner, is just the “rest of the team” with a number each. In a movie three or four names (the super actors on the poster probably) are known the rest have their names written in a scrolling long list of credits, at school…at work…everywhere we meet the second liners…the not good enough…whose names are just…unknown!

Zacchaeus (the tax collector), a short man who obviously was not by any means on the list of “Good names” and “Super Star” from a spiritual and religious stand point, a Name that the villagers would not consider on a First line not even a second liner when it comes to value and “Godly relationship”.
BUT Jesus called him BY NAME!

“And when Jesus reached the place, He looked up and said to him, Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today. So he hurried and came down, and he received and welcomed Him joyfully.” Luke 19:5-6 AMP
“فلَمّا جاءَ يَسوعُ إلَى المَكانِ، نَظَرَ إلَى فوقُ فرآهُ، وقالَ لهُ: «يا زَكّا، أسرِعْ وانزِلْ، لأنَّهُ يَنبَغي أنْ أمكُثَ اليومَ في بَيتِكَ». فأسرَعَ ونَزَلَ وقَبِلهُ فرِحًا.” لوقا 19:5-6 

Jesus has a special heart seeking the 2nd and 3rd liners…He came to help the unwanted, the heal to unnoticed, to call free the burdened and the troubled…and call by name left aside!

No matter how you feel you stand spiritually, even if you are a 10th Liner, God knows you by name and will call you and Come to have dinner with you. Are you hungry for Him? Do you want to receive Him? Zacchaeus gave Him a sign and climbed the tree to see Jesus, Give Him a sign today and NOW and He will make of you a 1st Liner on His “Love Spreading” team!

Back to School Worry List!

I believe all mothers´ worry these days is focused on one thing: Back to School. You surely agree with me that one of the Big items on their “worry list” is Classmates!

“So tell me dear who is with you in class? Who is sitting next to you, behind you, in front? Oh really, you have to change your seat, he is a naughty boy, he won’t let you sit in peace. Oh, this is quite a troublesome group, I have to change your seat or even your class!”

That´s exactly why some mothers find their own ways to pre-assign their kids into a certain class, to ensure the right “Entourage and Ambiance” to success in this new year. They know how bad habits are so easy to cling, stick and become part of their kids behaviour…just by sitting around the wrong group of classmates.

Wish we were so keen ourselves in choosing our Life´s “classmates”…Negative classmates will pull you down, Fearful ones will get their fear in you, Active ones will get you moving with them…not only people but even content, what you read, see and accept your eyes to feed upon will end up shaping your thoughts, behaviour and will STICK to you!

David the psalmist knew this fact and consciously departed from acts or classmates that would grasp hold of him and keep him off track:
“I will set no base or wicked thing before my eyes. I hate the work of them who turn aside [from the right path]; it shall not grasp hold of me.”
Psalm 101:3 AMP
“لا أضَعُ قُدّامَ عَينَيَّ أمرًا رَديئًا. عَمَلَ الزَّيَغانِ أبغَضتُ. لا يَلصَقُ بي.”

I call that today we review in prayer and in light of God´s grace which class are we attending? What habits are clinging to ourselves? Are we letting our eyes and hearts be fed whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy— to think about such things (Philippians 4:8)

The Jar Opener

I love it when the kids prepare everything on their breakfast table, bread, butter, milk, plates, and come to me holding the Jam jar to open it for them. Funny enough, they don’t even approach Aline standing next to them in the kitchen, but run to me wherever in the house I might be. They have no doubt whatsoever that I will able to open this totally stuck clogged Jar lid…obviously they prepared the table except for this jar! That´s the kind of trust that putsme to do all I can to open it

These little creatures´ trust reminded me of that man with leprosy (miracle stated in Matthew, Mark and Luke) who came to Jesus on his knees not only with full trust in His power and reign over his sickness, shame and humiliation…but more specifically came with a heart surrendering to His will.

“And a leper came to Him, begging Him on his knees and saying to Him, If You are willing, You are able to make me clean. And being moved with pity and sympathy, Jesus reached out His hand and touched him, and said to him, I am willing; be made clean!” Mark 1:40-41 AMP
“فأتَى إليهِ أبرَصُ يَطلُبُ إليهِ جاثيًا وقائلًا لهُ: «إنْ أرَدتَ تقدِرْ أنْ تُطَهِّرَني». فتحَنَّنَ يَسوعُ ومَدَّ يَدَهُ ولَمَسَهُ وقالَ لهُ: «أُريدُ، فاطهُرْ!».” مَرقُسَ 1:40-41 

Oh Heavenly Father, how many times in our prayers we approach Your Grace lacking this kind trust and faith. We approach You in doubts…deep down we are not sure You really can make it happen. Let me pray with Jeremiah “There is nothing too hard or too wonderful for You”
(Jeremiah 32:17), sing with David “Great is our Lord, and abundant in His strength” (Psalm 147:5), confirm with Abraham that what “You had promised You are also able to perform” (Romans 4:21)…and Finally scream out loud with the doubting father of the possessed son “Lord, I do believe…HELP my unbelief (help my grow my faith)” (Mark 9:24)…In Jesus name I pray to live your Will, AMEN!

To Think Less of Ourselves OR To Think of Ourselves Less...

C.S. Lewis once said that as Christians we are not called to think less of ourselves but to think of ourselves less. 

Christ speaks similarly in Matthew 20. When we prioritize other people above ourselves it can help us to get out of the quicksand of our own self pity and help us to realize that we are not alone in our suffering. Also, as we try to lift up others by applying God’s promises to their lives, we often find ourselves being sustained. 

Therefore, when we purposefully serve, we talk about it being a greater ministry to us than to those that we served.

Lifetime Companion

You surely know this feeling when you are deep down burdened, worried and in pain, you sit on that couch next to your friend...in total silence, and you realize how they feel the storm within you without you having said one single word!

So is our life time companion "The Holy Spirit", He knows even the toughest feelings too deep for words and takes them up to God.
I love this encouraging and comforting verse:

“Also, the Spirit helps us. We are very weak, but the Spirit helps us with our weakness. We don’t know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself speaks to God for us. He begs God for us, speaking to him with feelings too deep for words.”
Romans 8:26 ERV
“وكذلكَ الرّوحُ أيضًا يُعينُ ضَعَفاتِنا، لأنَّنا لَسنا نَعلَمُ ما نُصَلّي لأجلِهِ كما يَنبَغي. ولكن الرّوحَ نَفسَهُ يَشفَعُ فينا بأنّاتٍ لا يُنطَقُ بها.”

A Detour Taxi!

Do you know this feeling of worry that starts crawling into your heart when the taxi driver takes a different route than the one you know and used to? Obviously you dont know this stranger…You probably don´t trust him…Are you taken on a longer route to pay a little bit more or just taken Away? You look closer to the driver, hammering him with questions in a firm voice..then start ordering him the way to go; even though he might know a better and faster way! In other words you prefer to have it your way than his way…It s more comfortable at least!

I wonder how many times did we treat God as an “Unknown Taxi Driver” pondering Him with “why this way? It is not this road I had in mind!” to realise at the end that He is lovingly always right…even when He takes a Detour!

NO Testers at the Tax-Free Shop!

Any of you noticed that? On my latest flights through Cairo airport, I had some time before my flight so decided to wander around a bit. I love scents and perfumes and this lead me to the Free shop just to check what´s new and enjoy some exquisite aromas before meeting the famous odd lemon zesty EgyptAir wipes 

smile emoticon To my surprise, the whole perfumes section had NO testers! Do not ask me why..there is probably a bureaucratic non sensereason behind it, that´s not the issue. But how do you expect me to buy a Perfume without even smelling it?! The 1 € perfume in a box is as good as the 100€ one...as you can’t smell what's inside. The sales man tried to explain to me some of the notes in the perfume: woody, long lasting, blah bla bla…Obviously you can’t describe a perfume…you SMELL it! Perfume without a tester is almost impossible to sell.

This is exactly what Jesus meant when He called you and me “Light of the World” and “Salt of this Earth”! He knew that if we live our days just talking about God´s love without showing it in our lives, giving sermons without being observed and experienced; we shall be no different than the perfume in the Box…WHILE just one press on a tester would be enough to fill the air with pleasant scents to the heart and soul.

“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.”

Do you miss your Walkman?

I love music and travelling lately opened my eyes to a whole new fact: I never miss one song being away from home! Whatever I wanna listen to, I will have it on my phone, iPod, iPad, online, YouTube, you name it! I specially enjoy our gatherings at night with friends, chatting, laughing and probably having some music played in the background…and almost all the times we just take the whole array of music in one night, from Blues, Jazz, pop, Sha3bi, even classics and hymns! What a richness technology offers us. These gatherings around the wireless speakers and endless music choices reminded of the Old days of Walkman or Discman. I used to travel with 20 CDs or cassettes struggling every time which ones shall I take along on my travelling journeys! Funny enough, I was content thinking that I had it all..Cant be missing something with 20 CDs…200 songs (next to the fact that i had to change the cd every time I needed to listen to something different)! Now with the endless libraries of music at your fingertips (and lighter for sure), I realize how naive I were being content with just my heavy CDs I walked around with!

Are we that naive being content with just couple of good traits in our personality? Every person gives himself a label, one being patient, the other generous, a third gentle, a forth caring and so on…We just tend to be content with couple of good aspects and believe we are almost as pure as angels! Little we know about God´s Offering to us. We just do the same, being content with a walkman who having a full array of Heavenly gifts ready to be bestowed and set in us through the HOLY SPIRIT! Just read what is at hand offered to you by the Spirit:

“But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence).” Galatians 5:22-23 AMP
“وأمّا ثَمَرُ الرّوحِ فهو: مَحَبَّةٌ، فرَحٌ، سلامٌ، طولُ أناةٍ، لُطفٌ، صَلاحٌ، إيمانٌ، وداعَةٌ، تعَفُّفٌ.” غَلاطيَّةَ 5:22-23

Lord, i pray today for eyes to be open and hearts to be hungry for more…more of You, Your goodness, Your Heart to show on us! Let this fruit hang from our tree to feed a hungry world…with abundance every day. Let us realize that the Fruit of the Spirit is all at hand once we decide to live and walk on the path of life guided by YOUR Spirit. All to glorify Your name! Amen.

Would you trade your iPod with a walkman now? I guess not!

Take Off your Goggles!

Just came back from a short stay on the shores of the picturesque Red Sea. The beauty of sea life and the amazing colored corals and fish put at shame any "Haute couture" designer. To entertain their guests, our hotel installed an inflatable Slide (زحليقة) there in the depth of the sea, at a 10 mins swim. Farida had one goal: Spending most of her time around that Slide, and obviously in that depth I had to be there with her. Finishing lunch she pulled me to go back to the slide as promised. On our way swimming, I put my goggles (نظارة مياة) to enjoy the beauty of the under water sights on the way..There I found the most stunning fish, shining its colours all over, it trapped me with its beauty and I decided to follow its path..Farida realized that we were deviating and drifting away from our path. She pulled me back and pointed at the slide in a way to tell me "Lets get back on track"! She was right...couple of minutes later I found an amazing coral formation...I stopped and went around it fully hypnotized...totally forgetting the Slide! Only then She lost her patience and found a solution to this distracted father, she asked me firmly to "Take off my GOGGLES" as she knew without them, this underwater world wont trap me again, and I wouldnt be losing sight of our goal, nor wasting time heading towards our destination, the slide! 

SIMPLE, EASY and IT WORKED!

Oh how many times we need to take off our Distracting Goggles of life...How many times we decided to fight temptation in our lives yet we put the goggles on just to act upon them...We make way for the weakness to conquer and for the sin to grow just by preparing the environment for it and putting the goggles on...and later wonder why did we deviate and wander away off The Road...Away of LIFE in its FULLEST FORM..Far from HIM!

May we Pray with David out loud: Lord, 

“Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity (idols and idolatry); and restore me to vigorous life and health in Your ways.” Psalm 119:37

Whenever you are weak, TAKE OFF YOUR GOGGLES..They will just Distract you Further!!

A Lucky Fish

Summer Time creates discoveries and memories to last specially when spent on the sea side. Couple of days ago, Farida and I went snorkeling in the middle of the sea, suddenly she started diving in and out of the water rapidly, every time her face comes up with a bigger smile!
- Farida, What is happening to you? Stop and catch your breath...
- Wait...(splash in and out again).
-Farida, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
- Pa, i just realized how lucky the fish are, they live in a very silent peaceful "home"...When I go down, all I hear is silence...when up again, all the noise on the beach hits my ears! Down There is like a Mute Button...no wonder the fish swim so relaxed smile emoticon

What a finding! Farida simply realized the power of her surrounding...with her head in the water, she found silence! Can we as well be careful where we keep our head hanging, which "home" (world) we decide to live in? Do we have the freedom to choose our soul's environment?

David, with the dangers surrounding him and the sin once committed hunting his mind, knew that his peace will only come by choosing the dwelling place (home) of his soul:
“Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place." Psalm 23:6 AMP
“إنَّما خَيرٌ ورَحمَةٌ يتبَعانِني كُلَّ أيّامِ حَياتي، وأسكُنُ في بَيتِ الرَّبِّ إلَى مَدَى الأيّامِ.” المَزاميرُ 23:6 

Which world do you choose for your soul? Do you keep your head hanging in the middle of a noisy harsh distracting and disturbing world non stop without enjoying the peace, goodness, mercy and unfailing love granted to you in the dwelling house of God's presence in your life? who and what are you submerging yourself into? Do you willing choose noise and then complain?

Stop, catch your breath and swim like the lucky fish in the sea of His love smile emoticon

Super Sensitivity Detector!! .... !الحاسة "السوبر"

Leila and Farida have developed by time this super natural power I call "SSD-Super Sensitivity Detector"! 

But what is this SSD?! Easy...it is the power to recognize my arrival without even speaking one word. They now detect my way of knocking the door, my footsteps in the hallway, or the tone I speak even if I change my voice over the phone! Just hearing the sound of my keys laying them on the entrance side table is enough for them to know I am home and a trigger to get ready for The Running Hug to Dad! This detector gets stronger when they already are waiting for my arrival, wanting me to be around! Amazing how a Loving Relationship, seeking eyes and a waiting heart can Build your "SSD" stronger everyday smile emoticon

I was equally amazed by the SSD in John. Out of all disciples, it did not take him much time to detect and scream out loud " IT IS THE LORD!"

"He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” (John 21:6-7 NIV)
فقالَ لهُمْ: «ألقوا الشَّبَكَةَ إلَى جانِبِ السَّفينَةِ الأيمَنِ فتجِدوا». فألقَوْا، ولَمْ يَعودوا يَقدِرونَ أنْ يَجذِبوها مِنْ كثرَةِ السَّمَكِ. فقالَ ذلكَ التِّلميذُ الّذي كانَ يَسوعُ يُحِبُّهُ لبُطرُسَ: «هو الرَّبُّ!». (21 يوحَنا:6-7 AVDDV)

John experiencing the love of Christ (being entitled-the disciple whom Jesus Loved) was able to see the Hands of God in this action, it was a strong reminder of a Life Turning point miracle for many of the disciples, in the same incident, in that same boat of Peter, when Jesus asked them to throw the net on the other side of the boat and only then caught immensely beyond expectations amount of fish! His waiting heart for Jesus after resurrection was proclaiming God's Entrance to the scene!

Lord, I pray today for the SSD in me! I pray alertness to my heart and mind, to see you in my everyday, detect your hands, point at your footprints, and proclaim out loud in the same manner John did "IT IS THE LORD"!

!الحاسة "السوبر"

إتكونت عند ليلة وفريدة حاسة فوق العادي، حاسة سوپر !!
حاسة بسميها Super Sensitivity Detector!
ببساطة .. حاسة التعرف على وصولي من الشغل من غير ما أقول ولا كلمة!
بيتعرفوا على خبطتي على الباب، خطواتي في الممر جوا البيت، نبرة صوتي حتى لو غيرتها!
صوت سلسلة المفاتيح وانا بسندها على الطرابيزة الصغيرة في المدخل كافي إنهم يعرفوا اني في البيت وكأنها صفارة عشان يسيبوا اللي في ايديهم وييجوا جري يحضنوني!

غريب اوي ومبهر حقيقي أزاي علاقة كلها حب تقدر "تقوي" حواسك بالشكل ده...
العينين اللي بتدور والقلب المنتظر جداً، بيخلقوا حاسة قوية...
وبسبب كل الحب ده بتتقوى كل يوم بشكل عجيب!

بنفس الإحساس أنا كنت مبهور بالحاسة القوية دي عند يوحنا...
الوحيد من بين التلاميذ اللي الموضوع مأخدش منه أي وقت علشان يتعرف على يسوع ويصرخ "هو الرب"!!

فقالَ لهُمْ: «ألقوا الشَّبَكَةَ إلَى جانِبِ السَّفينَةِ الأيمَنِ فتجِدوا». فألقَوْا، ولَمْ يَعودوا يَقدِرونَ أنْ يَجذِبوها مِنْ كثرَةِ السَّمَكِ. فقالَ ذلكَ التِّلميذُ الّذي كانَ يَسوعُ يُحِبُّهُ لبُطرُسَ: «هو الرَّبُّ!». (21 يوحَنا:6-7 AVDDV)

يوحنا لأنه إختبر محبة المسيح، (وكان لقبه التلميذ الذي كان يسوع يحبه) قدر يشوف إيدين الله في المعجزة، وفكرته بنقطة تحول معجزية في حياة كتير من التلاميذء...
نفس الموقف ونفس المركب لمّا طلب يسوع من بطرس ان يلقي بالشباك على الجانب الآخر من المركب، وساعتها السمك ملأ الشبكة كمية فوق التخيل والتوقع!

أصلي اليوم .. من أجل هذه "الحاسة" الكاشفة!
أصلي لكي يتنبه قلبي وعقلي، لكي أراك في يومي وفي كل أيامي، أستشعر عمل يديك، أشير الى خطواتك، وأعلن بأعلى صوتي...تماماً كما فعل يوحنا..."إنه الرب"!

تحدث اليه.. كل يوم.. طور تلك الحاسة الكاشفة..
فأعماله تملأ كل حياتك!
